Summary: | Lubricant viscosity is determined by temperature distribution, design of lubricant analysis is essential. In this study, the performance of a journal bearing was investigated. The surface materials are treated using a hydrophobic coating to obtain an artificial slip. The simulation is carried out using 3D modeling of CFD. In this study, the hydrophobic coating on journal bearing is varied using FSI Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) Method. Furthermore, the effect of turbulence is also considered. The simulation results show that the turbulence effect reduces the load-carrying capacity compared to the journal bearing under laminar conditions irrespective of the turbulence model. It is also found that the hydrophobic coating has a strong effect on altering the fluid behavior, specifically in load-carrying capacity. A hydrophobic coating can obtain the improved performance of journal bearing. |
