Description
Summary:The new COVID-19 pandemic leaves people in uncertainty which drives them to look for information. News can be a reliable source of information about the disease, and news consumption behaviors in the time of pandemic become an interesting topic to inquire about. Through a survey of 409 youth aged between 15 and 24 in the Indonesian capital, this study finds insightful facts about young people's behaviors of news consumption. The data reveals that youth news consumption during the COVID-19 pandemic shows high use of multiple platforms, high probability of incidental news, high frequency of information sharing, high exposure to fake news, high tendency of news seeking, and, yet, high tendency of news avoiding. The findings could help policymakers to strategize the circulation of COVID-19 related information to the people.
