Summary:The characteristics of gene pools are given and a comparative analysis of the genetic diversity of breeds of farm animals bred in the conditions of arid regions of Russia using various methods of studying DNA is performed. Innovative proposals on the optimal strategy for the maintenance and breeding of breeds have been developed. For the most complete realization of the genetic potential of farm animals, new approaches have been developed to increase the productive effect of feed.
