description | A video is able to present an image in a realistic situation or resembling a real situation. This allows a student to feel as if they are or are participating in the situation being described. It is also a dynamic medium as a result of the interweaving of various other media. This is indirectly able to increase the effectiveness of the process of delivering a message because the media is dynamic and has a multi - media network can stimulate various senses more easily and effectively. A short and concise video is what a student needs. One of the most recent developments in technology enhanced method in teaching and learning is a method called micro learning. Micro learning refers to an educational approach that offers bite-sized, small learning units with just the necessary amount of information to help learners achieve a goal. This study examined how micro learning approach can enhance critical thinking skills among accounting students in Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz School of Accounting (TISSA) in Universiti Utara Malaysia. This study employed qualitative action research methodology where it involved 81 accounting students. In this approach, videos were uploaded in students’ online platform and discussions will take place in the classroom. The study interest was measured using communication skill rubric. Students’ refections were gained from an open ended interviews. The results showed that students’ communication and participation skill have enhanced with the use of micro learning approach. The students stressed that they like videos since the video help them understand the topic easily. Moreover, students can play the video, pause or repeat the digital video clips provided according to their needs and skill level. This indirectly allows a learning process to be done according to the needs and level of acceptance of students. |
