Description
Summary:Due to the increase of number of flights in the aviation industry, an upsurge in the level of CO2 emission into the environment has been observed. With the use of more aircrafts, higher quantity of fossil fuels is consumed worldwide. Now, these fossil fuels pose a serious in generating carbon footprint. The fossil fuels, always undergoes incomplete combustion, which results in the emission. This led to the production of alternative fuels for jet engines. In this paper, a jet diesel (Jet A1) fuel has been used to test the combustion efficiency, along with its blend with Palm based bio-diesel oil. Total three sets of experimentation were carried out with Jet A1 fuel and with blend of Palm Biodiesel and Jet A1 fuel, having 50:50 ratio and 40:60 ratio. Additional emphasis was given on the modification of fuel properties like kinematic viscosity, density, fire point and flash point. The research concluded with the calculation of combustion efficiency for different fuels/fuel-mixtures.
