Summary:Innovative activities in agriculture are the driving force of its sustainable development. Innovative processes in this area have been developing through the implementation of more intensive technologies, elements of precision farming and control systems. To boost the digitalization of the agricultural sector, it is necessary to train senior and middle-level specialists in digital technologiesand improve skills of staff working in the agricultural industry; it is advisable to expand an access of agricultural producers to information (through the information and advisory service of the agricultural industry) on innovations and financial resources for implementing digital innovations (loans, tax and other benefits for producers who implement innovative and digital technologies). The study identified areas of application of digital technologies in Russian agriculture. The most promising areas of investment in Russian agriculture in the context of the digital economy were identified.
