Summary:The covid-19 pandemic has changed the order of life in Indonesia, especially in the field of education so that learning cannot be done directly. Therefore, to suppress the spread of covid-19, the government has implemented a policy that teaching and learning activities are carried out from home or online. It affects the way students think in learning. This research aims to compare the effect of online learning on students’ critical thinking at secondary school. data collection through the distribution of questionnaires and interviews to teachers and students in secondary schools. The data analysis method used is a qualitative method with three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing and verification. The results showed that the effect of online learning on students’ critical thinking in secondary school was seen in the proportion of critical thinking of each student in the moderate category as much as 77% based on aspects of understanding, aspects of activity, and aspects of problem-solving.
