Description
Summary:This study aimed to develop an interactive pedagogical tool for use in primary school science teaching sessions on third year standard students. This interactive pedagogy tool called Smart Science: Let’s Learn Animal Eating Habits uses google meet and Microsoft Powerpoint medium that equipped with Web 2.0 interactive applications to deliver lessons, test students ’knowledge and assess students’ mastery of the topics taught. The use of technology in teaching and learning is highly emphasized to meet the seventh shift in the emphasis of the Malaysian Education Development Plan (PPPM) 2013-2025. This need is seen to be increasingly evident as the world experiences the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic where online learning has to be used to avoid physical interaction in order break the chain of this epidemic. This interactive pedagogical tool is also suitable to overcome problems that exist in learning science such as misconceptions, build academic schemata based on schemas through students’ daily experiences and provide scaffolding and further help students learn and master science process skills as emphasized in the Curriculum Standard Document and Primary School Science Assessment Revision 2017. Teaching sessions using these interactive pedagogical tools take place in a relaxed and entertaining as the presentations and digital content are interesting as they have colourful amusing elements and emit sound and respond to student actions. Assessments are carried out by experts from various areas of expertise. The aspects evaluated are in terms of the design of digital materials such as visual, audio and meet the main aspects of the curriculum, namely learning objectives, learning activities and learning assessment as well as appropriate approaches, strategies and techniques. The results of the evaluation in the form of consensus values are obtained through evaluations from appointed experts. The consensus value of Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) obtained is 0.778 indicating that this tool is at a moderate level.
