Description
Summary:The increasing rate of infectious diseases is one of the major burdens over the health care sector. The traditional diagnostic technique used in health care requires more time and resources thus rapid, cost-effective and sensitive diagnostic tool is of great importance. Recently, CRISPR emerged as one of the most demanded next-generation diagnostic techniques that are utilized nowadays and considered to be the future of the diagnostic. Here, we systematically reviewed the CRISPR technology to understand its utility in disease diagnosis. Based on our inclusion criteria, 14 peers reviewed articles were included and evaluated further. Our study reveals that there is a great scope of the CRISPR technology in the diagnostic field and it can help to improve the specificity of the diagnostic test. There is a need to utilize the technology to improve and support the traditional diagnostic to improve the accuracy of the results.
