Fabrication and evaluation of sponge-like microstructure anode for a half-cell SOFC

Description
Summary:This work aims to fabricate two half solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) from developed two types of anode electrodes materials (Ni-GDC and Ni-YSZ). Thus, half cells consisted of the same anode sandwiched between ceramic electrolyte material (8mol% YSZ). The particle size of produced anode powders was analyzed by a laser particle size analyzer. Also, mineralogical constitutions of manufactured cells were evaluated with X-ray diffraction (XRD). Besides, the hardness of each type of anode was measured by microhardness. After that, the optimum microhardness electrode result was assessed with field electron scanning microscopy (FESEM). The results of half cells with asymmetric anode Gd0.1Ce0.9O1.95 and Ni indicated superior properties to half-SOFC than NiO-YSZ anode materials.
