Summary:The article is devoted to the study of the dynamics of the industries output that determine the main load of railway transport capacities in 2020. As a basic research methodology, a set of indicators characterizing the freight traffic transported by rail was used. The results show a general decline in the sectors of coal and oil products production, while there is a steady increase in the transportation of mineral fertilizers and containerized cargo. The main conclusion is that the coronavirus pandemic has led to a decrease in energy consumption. The restoration of energy consumption may lead to a shortage of transportation capacity.
