Summary: | Putting plan and management for a transportation system is a significant step. This study, therefore, has focused on evaluating public transportation in Al-Kut city. Different types of data have been collected, such as the number of lines of public transportation and the number of vehicles for each line, the traffic flow rate for all road networks in the city, the length of roads in the city network, and the pavement surface conditions. Furthermore, the interviews have been implemented to people who could use public transportation, excluding children and the elderly to investigate factors such as the main causes that affect developing public transportation in the city. Several surveys of public transportation have been implemented in this study such as the traveled distance, the sidewalk conditions, the reasons preventing walking, and causes of dissatisfaction with using public transportation. The results indicated that absence of suitable public transportation, and most of the public vehicles are private. |
