Description
Summary:During COVID19 era there is a huge demand of high speed network which can provide high speed and reliable internet services. As the number of internet user increases, the demand of new network architecture which can produce output with lower noise and distortion also increases. This paper introduces a concept where an Erbium (Er+) material doped optical amplifier (EDFA) is used to increase the effectiveness of an optical system by reducing noise and distortion. EDFA is part of active optical network. Various relationships between Bit Error Rate, Quality factor, Fiber length and Bit rate are shown and measured to show the effectiveness of EDFA on optical system. Performance of EDFA is measured for an optical system such as APD receiver, PIN receiver, WDM optical network. Higher bitrate up to 50 Gbps can be targeted. EDFA based optical systems for wired type of medium are simulated using OPTSIM 5.0 software which is design by Rsoft.
