Summary: | This research was conducted to utilize natural anthraquinone and p-allylphenol as disinfectants to prevent the transmission of viruses and bacteria through hand contact. Both natural compounds are obtained from aloe vera gel and betel leaf. Some samples were made in the laboratory using the main material components for making hand sanitizers as recommended by the world health agency. In addition, the disinfectant performance was improved by adding natural anthraquinone and p-allylphenol obtained domestically. The addition of them influences the pH value, so it is expected to increase its performance. The experimental results proved that the addition of 2.4% betel leaf, or 11.4% of a mixture of betel leaf and aloe vera, obtained a sample with a pH of 5.6. The addition of aloe vera alone produces a sample with a pH of 6.3. The three additive compositions will produce the pH required by health organizations for skin health between 4.5 and 6.5 and are considered effective and safe for practical use. |
