Description
Summary:Birds are a type of pest that is quite troublesome in rice fields. The conventional way of farmers chasing birds away is by shouting at them and shaking noisy cans tied to strings that stretch across the rice fields. However, this method is quite time-consuming for farmers because farmers must be in the rice fields and cannot carry out other activities outside the area. This research designs a bird repellent system that can be controlled automatically or manually remotely. The developed system utilizes a camera sensor, Pixy Cam, and two motion sensors namely PIR (Passive InfraRed) and RCWL Microwave. These sensors will detect the presence of bird pests in the rice fields. If birds are detected, the tool will automatically move the actuator to expel bird pests from the rice fields. The actuator used in this tool is a motor that will move a lever connected to a rope stretched in the rice field area, and an electronic buzzer that will emit a sound to drive away bird pests. This bird pest management system is also designed by implementing the Internet of Things (IoT) for remote manual control. An image processing system is used in this tool for detecting bird pests with a camera sensor, where with this system the tool will have the ability to distinguish detected objects, whether they are bird pests or other objects. The test results of the tool show that the tool can work properly, the operation of three types of sensors at the same time result on more optimal detection system.
