Description
Summary:The use of bentonite and polymer as a support fluid in the boring of the bored pile has different effects on the pile bearing capacity. As well as they have a different impact on the environment, methods of preparation, pumping, and the amount of mixing them with water. The current review paper attempts to highlight the differences between them and compare the advantages the other. The different physical and chemical properties make their behavior on the bored pile take a different direction. Accordingly, the previous studies have shown that it is better to use the polymer as a support fluid to implement the bored pile subjected to tensile forces. Furthermore, it was found that the reduction in the bearing capacity of the bored pile as a result of using the polymer as a supporting fluid is less than in the case of using bentonite. The reduction in the bearing capacity when using bentonite as a support fluid may be up to 50 percent or more compared to the polymer.
