description Azadirachta indica or neem is one of the most important medicinal plants that has been used in a wide range of medicinal, environmental and agricultural applications attribute to their rich source of phytoconstituents present in each part of the tree. The present study aims to investigate phytochemical constituents in the aqueous and ethanolic neem leaf extract using liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry of quadrupole time-of-flight (LC-MS QTOF). A total of 39 and 42 phytoconstituents belonging to terpenoids and flavonoids groups were identified in aqueous and ethanolic extract respectively. The prevailing major constituents present in aqueous extract were 8-Debenzoylpaeoniflorin, Icariside B4, Picrasinoside A, 4,8,12-Trimethyl-tridecanoic acid, 11-O-p-Coumarylnepeticin and Ganoderic acid S while for ethanolic extract were Verbenalin (Cornine), Icariside B4, Picrasinoside A, Physalin I, 6-Feruloyl catalpol, 4,8,12-Trimethyl-tridecanoic acid and Ganoderic acid G. Identified compounds were screened and confirmed by comparing their retention time and masses with the published libraries. The revelation of phytoconstituents in the neem leaf extract may give insight for further isolation of individual constituents that possesses important therapeutic activities which can be potentially utilized in pharmaceutical applications.
