Description
Summary:This study aimed to identify the main pathogenic bacterial species related to chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) iaddition to their corresponding antibiotics sensitivities in Diyala province, Iraq. An area where health service provision has been set-back by decades of conflict. Bacterial isolates from CSOM were identified using VITEK 2 compact identification system. Correlations of bacterial isolates with patient’s age, sex, discharge type, and hearing impairment were measured by Mann-Whitney. Antimicrobial susceptibilities were assessed with 16 common antibiotics. Forty-six patients were diagnosed with CSOM in the Otorhinolaryngology Department, AlZahraa Hospital, Baqubah, Iraq. The majority of CSOM infections (30.4%) were identified in 40 to 49 year old’s. A significant correlation was observed between bacterial infection and ear discharge (P
