Summary: | The site study of the Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in West Kalimantan has obtained prospective sites in Gosong Beach, Sungai Raya Village, Sungai Raya Islands District, and Bengkayang Regency. The NPP site must meet the requirements for the safety of the population and the surrounding environment. The construction and operation of NPP can have potential impacts on the population and the surrounding environment, such as ecology, land and water use, air, aesthetics, and socioeconomics. Research on land use mapping around the prospective NPP site provides information related to the type, distribution, and area of each land use object which is input for further analysis of land suitability for the NPP development plan. This research aims to obtain land use conditions in 2020 at a radius of 5 km and make projections of land use changes in the next 10 years. The method used in this study is based on spatial data studies, then analysis and field confirmation are carried out. The results of the study showed that the land use in a radius of 5 km is divided into classes based on the reference to SNI No. document. 7645:2014 which includes sea water bodies of 4,753.72 ha, river water bodies of 18.86 ha, and a land area of 2,960.82 ha. It was identified that secondary forest dominated land cover with an area of 762.57 ha, followed by mixed plantations covering an area of 743.97 ha, oil palm plantations of 614.77 ha, and other land use classes. Projections of land use change from 2021 to 2030 show that the pattern of change in each land use class in the research location is relatively small. |
