Summary:The ERCOFTAC centrifugal pump is a benchmark experimental case to study the behavior of centrifugal pump. Numerous numerical Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) studies using Reynold Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) turbulent model have been caried out to study this case by utilizing openFOAM software. In the last previous study, the unsteady RANS simulation resulted in a good agreement tangential and radial velocity plot with experiment, but slightly different error still occurred due to highly unsteadiness of rotor-stator interaction flow. In this study, Large Eddy Simulation (LES) modeling was used with snappyHexMesh meshing. For radial velocity the RANS result has a good trend agreement withexperimental data but cannot capture the detailed flow profile, otherwise LES result has better performance in capturing the detail. On the other hand, for tangential velocity, RANS is performing better trend prediction, and LES was too sensitive with radial velocity change which overpredicting the radial velocity change.
