Summary:The article analyzed the impact of thunderstorms on the accident-free operation of the equipment of energy facilities. The Micro-cap 11 Evaluation Version program provides schematic modeling of substation overvoltage protection circuits using nonlinear surge suppressors (NSS). NSS reduce the level of overvoltages and the likelihood of breakdown of insulation of the main equipment, thereby preventing short circuits and the occurrence of impulse voltages of touch and pitch.
