Description
Summary:Ruminants have a unique digestive system. The stomach consist of rumen, reticulum, omasum, and abomasum. Microorganisms that live in the rumen of ruminants help digest high-fiber and low-quality feed into an energy source. Some animal feed cannot be given to livestock without going through a certain processing process because it is thought to have low digestibility. Fermentation increases the degradation of crude fiber by cellulolytic microbes in the rumen. This study aims to analyze the quality of ruminant feed using cellulolytic microorganisms compared to feed without special processing. This is a case study research using a qualitative approach, the data collected by literature study. The analysis results show that animal feed probiotics can increase microbes’ effectiveness in the intestines. Microbes can increase the growth and development of livestock. Microbes can improve nutrient quality and reduce the negative impact of certain feed ingredients. Fermentation technology has improved the quality of ruminant feed.
