Description
Summary:The objective of this research is to examine the effects of stacking order and thermal conditioning temperature on the flexural and ILSS strength behaviour of basalt/flax hybrid fibre composites in accordance with the required ASTM. Fabrication of laminates was done by Autoclave Machine. Six different stacking arrangements and three different heat conditioning temperatures 27°c, 50°c, and 80°c for two hours were chosen. Flexural and ILSS strength have been shown to be significantly influenced by the type of fibre used at the outer and bottom surfaces of the FRP, as well as by conditioning and stacking arrangement. To ascertain the type of damage that had occurred, the fragmented laminate specimen surface was inspected using ancelestron microscope. Because of stiffening of matrix, the tested sample was shown to be more durable and less deformable at room temperature. The higher strength of the composite could potentially explain this outcome.
