Description
Summary:To increase the characteristic strength of concrete produced in this investigation, the lathe metal effluents by the lathes is collected and added. The use of lathe metal waste in concrete production leads to reduce the environmental problem. Lathe metal waste was added with various proportions of 0.5%, 1%, 1.5% and 2% of cement. Concrete specimens were casted. Tests were conducted on the strength performance, such as compressive strength, tensile strength and flexural strength. Micro-structural analysis like Scanned electron microscopic image (SEM), X-ray diffraction image (XRD), were examined to study the surface formation of the concrete. According to the findings, 1% of lathe metal scrap is the ideal addition rate for concrete.
