Description
Summary:Owing to various factors such as pollution, the transportation sector is progressively moving towards full electrification. This paper investigates the performances of a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) driven by two five phase permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSM). The first one is connected though a gear box to vehicle rear wheels. The second PMSM is attached to the front wheel and is only activated when the car is subjected to high torque loads. Both PMSM1 and PMSM2 are controlled using field oriented control (FOC) technique. Simulations were conducted using MATLAB/Simulink, yielding satisfactory results. Furthermore, the increased number of phases in the PMSM contributed to the reliable operation of the vehicle, enhancing driving comfort under various modes.
