Description
Summary:Study aimed and produced solid blocks using both conventional concrete and coconut shell concrete. Both these solid blocks were satisfied the minimum compressive strength required by the Indian Standard 2185: 2005. Properties such as block density, compressive strength, water absorption, drying shrinkage and moisture movement were found on these solid blocks. All these properties were found to be within the permissible limit of the code and standard. Water absorption, drying shrinkage and moisture movement of solid concrete blocks were well within the allowable limit of 20%, 0.06 and 0.08, respectively. It can be stated that the coconut shell can be used as a building material in the production of solid blocks.
