Description
Summary:The corrosion resistance of stainless steel 304L coated in a Cr- and MS-electrode hard face in a NaCl solution was investigated in this work. We will explore their characteristics, as well as the manufacturing processes used to produce stainless steel products. The stainless steel will be hard faced with shield metal arc welding with two layers above the surface of the material. This study investigated the use of stainless steel in hard facing applications using the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) process. The research involved welding stainless steel onto a mild steel substrate using various SMAW techniques. To ascertain the morphology and grind structure of the sample surfaces, scanning electron microscopy was utilized. By using the Electrochemical Potentiodynamic Polarization Test and the Hardness Test of the samples’ mechanical characteristics, the corrosion behavior of the samples in the corroding media was investigated. Results showed that the sample investigated in the NaCl solution at certain temperature has the highest corrosion resistance and also analysis the bonding percentage between the hard facing and the material. Finally, we compared the results between two hard faced and base material.
