Summary:The principle of an all-through dye-sensitized nanostructures tandem cell is examined. The theoretical upper limit for a cell with only one photoactive dye-sensitized electrode is not much different from the solid-state devices with one active semiconductor, of around 30%. The corresponding limit of a tandem device with two photoactive semiconductors is around 43%.
