Carex bigelowii Torrey ex Schweinitz (C. rigida Good., Non Schrank; C. hyperborea Drejer)

Carex bigelowii is a common sedge species of open upland and arctic communities, often growing within carpets of moss. It is a native species of the British Isles, with the stronghold of its UK range in Scotland both within the main Highland region, and in the Western and Northern Isles.
