Description
Summary:Here we suggest a possible approach to an early preclinical diagnostic method for transmissible spongiform encephalopathies using scrapie in sheep as a model. An altered protein, PrP super(Sc), can be detected in the brain of diseased individuals. We have now detected PrP super(Sc) in tonsils of sheep in the preclinical stage of the disease, long before the onset of clinical signs.
