A new approach to the synthesis of α-chlorocycloalkanones

α-Chlorocycloalkanones ( IV) were synthesized from cycloalkanones via potassium α-oxocycloalkylsulfonates ( II). A two-step mechanism was proposed to explain the formation of IV from II.
