Summary: | 1‐Methyl imidazolium tetraflouroborate ([HMIm]BF4) has been discovered to be an effective eco‐friendly solvent cum activator for a novel one‐pot sequential coupling and oxidative cyclization of 4‐amino‐3‐methyl‐5‐styrylisoxazoles, 2‐aminobenzoyl chloride and benzyl alcohols to produce new isoxazolyl quinazolin‐4(3H)‐ones under ambient conditions. The protocol proves to be an efficient and an environmentally benign in terms of high yields, low reaction times, ease of recovery, and reusability of reaction medium.
A facile and convenient procedure for the synthesis of isoxazolyl quinazolin‐4(3H)‐ones from 4‐amino‐3‐methyl‐5‐styrylisoxazoles, 2‐aminobenzoyl chloride and benzyl alcohols using [HMIm]BF4 as task‐specific ionic liquid has been described. The important aspects of the present methodology are: short reaction time, good yields, large substrate scope, recyclable, and eco‐friendly solvent. |
