Abstract 12205: Serum BNP Expression Differs in Endocardial versus Epicardial Scar Area

IntroductionSerum BNP has been found in the left ventricle (LV) with immunohistochemical studies localizing expression to regions of fibrosis. Description
Summary:IntroductionSerum BNP has been found in the left ventricle (LV) with immunohistochemical studies localizing expression to regions of fibrosis. Although the exact stimuli for secretion are unknown, wall tension that may be influenced by scar could be a factor. We sought to characterize the relationship between serum BNP levels drawn at time of catheter ablation for VT and myocardial scar characteristics and distribution.MethodsWe studied consecutive patients who underwent catheter ablation for ventricular tachycardia between 2014 and 2016 that were enrolled in a single center registry. Patients without structural heart disease or complete maps were excluded. Scar was defined from electrogram voltage
