There is limited data on His bundle pacing (HBP) in this population.HypothesisTo assess the acute success, feasibility and safety of HBP in the octogenarian and nonagenarian population.Met...

Summary: | IntroductionCoexistence of structural heart disease and His-Purkinje conduction disease in the elderly is high. There is limited data on His bundle pacing (HBP) in this population.HypothesisTo assess the acute success, feasibility and safety of HBP in the octogenarian and nonagenarian population.MethodsAll patients >80 years who underwent HBP implantation using the Select Secure(model 3830, Medtronic Inc.) lead between 2014-2017 at our center were included. HBP morphology, procedural and fluoroscopy times, pacing thresholds (PTh) and complications were assessed.ResultsForty-one elderly patients (mean age 84.2 y, range 80-92; 74% male) underwent HBP implantation. Indications were SSS in 16(39%), AV block in 9(22%), AF in 10(24%) and CHF in 6 (15%). 78% had HTN, 42% had CAD, 17% had prior cardiac surgery and 22% had EF 120ms (9 RBBB, 5 LBBB, 1 IVCD). Implant data are shown in the Table. Selective His capture was obtained in 16 pts (39%) with non-selective pacing in the rest. Paced QRSd was |
