Abstract 10919: Long Term Outcomes After Stentless Aortic Valve Replacement in Bicuspid Aortic Valve and Trileaflet Aortic Valve Patients: A Propensity Score Match Study

IntroductionThe longevity of a stentless bioprosthesis is unkown in patients with Bicuspid Aortic Valve (BAV) and Tricuspid Aortic Valve (TAV) after aortic valve (AVR) or root replacement (ARR).HypothesisWe hypothesize the stentless vavle has the same longevity in BAV compared to TAV patients after...

Summary:IntroductionThe longevity of a stentless bioprosthesis is unkown in patients with Bicuspid Aortic Valve (BAV) and Tricuspid Aortic Valve (TAV) after aortic valve (AVR) or root replacement (ARR).HypothesisWe hypothesize the stentless vavle has the same longevity in BAV compared to TAV patients after surgery.MethodsFrom 1992-2014, 1947 patients underwent AVR/ARR with a first stentless vavle, including 1228 with TAV and 719 with BAV. Patients with active endocarditis were excluded. Using propensity score match, 519 matched pairs were identified based upon 17 variables. Data was obtained through chart review, surveys and the national death index.ResultsMatched pairs were similar with respect to patient demographics and stentless valve implant technique for AVR and ARR (modified inclusion/inclusion (95 vs 93%) versus total root (4 vs 2%). BAV group compared to TAV group had more ascending or arch replacement (49 vs 30%) and larger size bioprosthesis (26.3±2.3 vs 25.8±2.4 mm; all p
