Summary:This edited collection presents the main research findings of the Finding a Voice research project conducted in collaboration with UNESCO 2006-2008. This book relates the research to contemporary debates in communication for development and social change. The various chapters explore what is meant by 'voice', communicative ecologies and participatory content creation. The book presents findings related to some of the key themes emerging from the research, namely participation, gender and sustainability. This book is aimed at policymakers, practitioners, donor organizations and researchers involved in information and communication for development fields. It explores how technological change can enhance social development by participatory approaches at the community level. The study is informed by ethnographic action research conducted in India, Indonesia, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
