Summary: | The main theme of my research is the study of interfacial reactions of environmental significance. This interest grew from my Ph.D. topic on the surface chemistry of minerals in gas–solid systems and has largely centred on the role of molecular interactions at the gas–solid, gas–liquid and liquid–solid interfaces with particular applications to abiotic reactions in complex heterogeneous systems. My involvement in surface chemistry started from an initial interest in the application of gas adsorption to the investigation of adsorption-energy distributions of heterogeneous surfaces. Initially this started as a final year research project following an industrial year at the Paint Research Association at Teddington in Middlesex. [Continues.] |
