Electronic quenching of OH(A) by water in atmospheric pressure plasmas and its influence on the gas temperature determination by OH(A–X) emission
Published 2010“…This means that the observed ro-vibrational OH(A–X) emission band is (at least partially) an image of the formation process and is determined not only by the gas temperature. …”

“Oh” + apology + solution: a practice for managing the concomitant presence of a possible offense and a problem-to-be-solved
Published 2016“…We show that speakers collaborate in differentiating the offense-aspect and the problem-aspect of an emerging circumstance by treating the apology-component as preliminary to and in the service of the primary function of the turn: treating the circumstance as a problem-to-be-solved and providing a solution for it. The “Oh” prefacing, which treats the circumstance as something of which the speaker had not been previously aware, and the turn-medial positioning of the apology contribute to treating the matter at hand as a minor shortcoming or imposition rather than a major wrongdoing.…”

CFD modeling of pharmaceuticals and CECs removal by UV/H2O2 process in helical microcapillary photoreactors and evaluation of OH radical rate constants
Published 2021“…The intensity of the Dean vortices formed was correlated to the Dean (De) and Schmidt (Sc) numbers through a new correlation for the radial Peclet, which established that these become significant when De1.94Sc>67. …”

Using supercritical CO2 in the preparation of metal-organic frameworks: Investigating effects on crystallisation
Published 2019“…We were interested to see which method produced the highest yield, the cleanest product and what types of morphology resulted. While there was no evidence of additional meso- or macroporosity in these MOFs/MOPs nor any significant improvements in product yields through the addition of scCO2 to these systems, it was shown that the use of scCO2 can have an effect on crystallinity, crystal size and morphology.…”

It's like mmm: Enactments with it's like
Published 2010“…The enactments are often ‘response cries’ (Goffman, 1978) such as oh, mm, wow, and man. Because of the highly indexical nature of this grammatical format, it represents a fascinating site for participants to work out a ‘world known in common’ (Goodwin, personal communication).…”

GP-delivered brief weight loss interventions: a cohort study of patient responses and subsequent actions, using conversation analysis in UK primary care
Published 2018“…Recognising these could have saved doctors a mean of 31 seconds per consultation. Conclusion When doctors make brief opportunistic interventions that incorporate the offer of help, ‘oh’-prefaced or marked positive responses indicate enthusiastic acceptance of the offer and a higher likelihood of take-up. …”

Synthesis and modification of hydrotalcite as a thermal stabiliser for poly(vinylchloride)
Published 2011“…This thesis present result of a project to synthesise and modify hydrotalcites to produce ultra-fine particles in recognition of the fact that the benefits of hydrotalcite could be enhanced with smaller particle sizes. The work has proceeded via two routes: firstly, by experiments to modify and intercalate the hydrotalcite with a surfactant in a way analogous to that used to montmorillonite clays, and secondly by novel synthesis methods. …”
