Summary: | Heats of mixing (ΔHm) for three polymers in three solvents have been measured using a TIAN‐CALVET microcalorimeter. ΔHm are positive (endothermic) and are shown to be in good quantitative agreement with HILDEBRAND‐SCATCHARD expectations. These results offer the occation to consider a new contribution to ΔHm which has ben ignored in currently accepted thermodynamic theories and which could explain the large deviations from the HILDEBRAND treatment of ΔHm, occurring for polymer/non Θ‐solvent systems.
