Description
Summary:In order to show the effect of mixtures either of electrolytes, of solvents, or of precipitates on the behavior of sols in statu nascendi, the experimental results are given: (1) of the antagonistic action of electrolytic mixtures (lanthanum nitrate-potassium nitrate or sulfate, lanthanum nitrate-magnesium nitrate or sulfate) for silver bromide and silver iodide sols; (2) of the effect of dioxan-water mixtures on the coagulation values of potassium, barium, and lanthanum nitrate for silver bromide sol; and (3) of the changes in precipitation and coagulation curves of silver bromide caused by mixing bromide with iodide. The possibility was pointed out of using the characteristic maxima and critical limits in typical precipitation and coagulation curves of salts of small solubility for obtaining an insight into the structures of the methorical (interboundary) layer between heteropolar crystal and electrolytic solution.
