Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Solubility in Diethylenetriamine and 2-Amino-2-Methyl-1-Proponal (DETA–AMP) Solvent System for Amine–Based CO2 Capture in Flue Gas from Coal Combustion

The CO2 absorption–desorption potentials of diethylenetriamine (DETA)+2-amino-2-methyl-1-proponal (AMP) bi–solvent blend were investigated. Absorption temperature and CO2 partial pressure (PCO2) was298–333K and 5–100kPa, respectively while the desorption temperature was 363K. The concentrations of D...

Description
Summary:The CO2 absorption–desorption potentials of diethylenetriamine (DETA)+2-amino-2-methyl-1-proponal (AMP) bi–solvent blend were investigated. Absorption temperature and CO2 partial pressure (PCO2) was298–333K and 5–100kPa, respectively while the desorption temperature was 363K. The concentrations of DETA and AMP were varied from 0.5–2 kmol/m3 and 1–2.5 kmol/m3, respectively with the total concentration of 3 kmol/m3. Equilibrium CO2 loading of the blends increased exponentially with PCO2. The initial rate of absorption and desorption of the blends were higher than 5 kmol/m3 MEA and the heat duties were much lower than the single MEA.
