Summary: | Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) are at the forefront of current initiatives among businesses, including healthcare. Organizations are realizing that incorporating DEIB into culture and strategy creates stronger relationships, improves quality and retention, and increases profitability. It is not enough for nurse leaders to highlight a need or make individuals aware of DEIB concepts. Successful diversity initiatives are cultivated by environments that promote inclusivity and generate a culture that supports differences. Thoughtful implementation of a DEIB strategic plan that considers structural dynamics and treats diversity education as an ongoing effort to achieve cultural humility is needed. |
