Summary:Designing a work environment to meet the needs of employees and job requirements is a fundamental factor for enhancing productivity, while improving operators ‘health and safety at work. The aim of the paper is to emphasize the risks related to labor system within small and medium enterprises active in the manufacturing industry. Compared to other industrial sectors, manufacturing processes imply a high interaction between operator and equipment, hence new technology generates emerging risks which require adequate understanding and counter-measures.
