Solubility Measurement and Correlation for 3,5-Dichloroaniline in (Methanol + Water) and (Ethanol + Water) Mixed Solvents

The solid–liquid phase equilibrium and solubility of 3,5-dichloroaniline were determined in mixed solvents of (methanol + water) and (ethanol + water) in temperatures ranging from (278.15 to 303.15) K under normal pressure (0.1 MPa). The solubility of 3,5-dichloroaniline in the mixed solvents increa...

Description
Summary:The solid–liquid phase equilibrium and solubility of 3,5-dichloroaniline were determined in mixed solvents of (methanol + water) and (ethanol + water) in temperatures ranging from (278.15 to 303.15) K under normal pressure (0.1 MPa). The solubility of 3,5-dichloroaniline in the mixed solvents increased with increasing temperature and mass fraction of methanol or ethanol. At the same temperature and mass fraction of methanol or ethanol, the solubility of 3,5-dichloroaniline in ethanol was greater than that in methanol. The Modified Apelblat equation and λh equation were employed to fit the solubility data. Results indicated that the Modified Apelblat equation was proven to give good representations of the experimental solubility data. According to the measured solubility, the thermodynamic properties such as dissolution enthalpy, dissolution entropy, and change of molar Gibbs free energy of the dissolution process were calculated. Dissolution of 3,5-dichloroaniline in aqueous alcohols is an endothermic process.
