Summary: | Several studies have shown the importance of muscular power in a football match and that jump training is a method of improving this physical capacity. Thus, the present study investigated whether the plyometric training applied in adolescents aged 14 to 17 years for four weeks would improve the performance of the 30 meter speed test and of vertical and horizontal jumps. The sample consisted of 08 football athletes of the sub-15 and sub 17 categories of a football school in the city of Ibiporã in the state of Paraná, which were divided into two groups. The salto group (GS) performed the plyometric training twice a week in addition to participating in the technical and tactical training of the team, the control group (GC) did not perform the specific plyometric training, but normally participated in the rest of the team's work. The subjects were submitted to anthropometric evaluation, body composition speed tests of 30 meters and tests of horizontal and vertical jumps that were used to evaluate the individual’s performance. To statistical analysis was performed the Shapiro Wilk test and. the Mann-Whitney test was applied for a non-parametric sample, the significance level adopted was p> 0.05. In the results no significant difference was found for any of the evaluated motor tests and for this reason concluded that 4 weeks of plyometric training is not sufficient to cause significant improvements in the speed and height of vertical and horizontal jumps
Vários estudos vêm mostrando a importância da potência muscular em uma partida de futebol e que o treinamento com saltos é um método de melhorar esta capacidade física. Assim o presente estudo investigou se o treinamento pliométrico aplicado em adolescentes com idade entre 14 e 17 anos, durante quatro semanas, traria melhoras no desempenho dos testes de velocidade de 30 metros e de saltos vertical e horizontal. A amostra foi composta por 08 atletas de futebol das categorias sub-15 e sub-17 de uma escolinha de futebol da cidade de Ibiporã-PR, os quais foram divididos em dois grupos. O grupo salto (GS) realizou os treinamentos pliométrico duas vezes na semana além de participar dos treinamentos técnicos e táticos da equipe, o grupo controle (GC) não realizou os treinos específicos de pliometria, mais participou normalmente do restante do trabalho da equipe.
