Summary:The aim of this study was to verify the relationship between motor skills with ball and its interference in the academic performance of children who play futsal in the city of Ouro Preto-MG. The sample consists of 56 students of the initial and final years of elementary school, aged between 09-13 years old and all males who practice futsal twice a week, after regular school time. It was used the coordination test with ball (TECOBOL) to evaluate the motor performance and was estimated the notes to measure school performance. Students who attended the final years had a higher average academic performance of those who were attending the early years, except in driving skill. It can be concluded that there is difference in school performance between different educational cycles, but this difference can not be related only to practice extracurricular activities. O objetivo deste estudo e verificar a relacao entre a coordenacao motora com bola e sua interferencia no rendimento escolar de criancas que praticam futsal na cidade de Ouro Preto-MG. A amostra deste estudo e composta de 56 escolares Ouro-pretanos, estudantes dos anos iniciais e finais do ensino fundamental, com a faixa etaria de 09 a 13 anos do sexo masculino, que praticam futsal duas vezes por semana no contra turno escolar. Foi utilizado o teste de coordenacao com bola (TECOBOL) para avaliacao do desempenho motor e foi utilizado as notas com estimativa para mensuracao do rendimento escolar. Os alunos que cursavam os anos finais apresentaram uma media de rendimento escolar superior aos que estavam cursando os anos iniciais, exceto na habilidade conducao. Pode se concluir que existe diferenca no rendimento escolar dos diferentes ciclos de ensino, mas essa diferenca pode nao esta relacionada apenas a pratica de atividades extracurriculares.
