Summary:In this article, it has been presented the results of a research which purpose was to verify if, in the original corpus, there were parameters which indicate differences between personal and scholar letters and if there were sufficient linguistic-discoursive criteria to situate them in different categories. That's a qualitative investigation, in which elements from case study and documental research are integrated. The analyses follows the descendent approach and is based on the principles of the Sociodiscursive Interactionism (BRONCKART, 2009; BROCKART, 2006). The results point that neither the situational parameters nor the enunciative elements are sufficient to differentiate those textual genres. Key-words: personal letter; scholar letter; enunciative mechanisms; management of voices Neste artigo, sao apresentados os resultados de uma pesquisa cujo objetivo era verificar se, no corpus de referencia, havia parametros que indicavam diferenca entre cartas pessoais e escolares e se havia criterios linguistico-discursivos suficientes para agrupa-las em diferentes categorias. E uma pesquisa qualitativa, na qual se mesclam elementos do estudo de caso e da analise documental. A analise segue o procedimento descendente e se baseia nos pressupostos do interacionismo sociodiscursivo (BRONCKART, 2009; BROCKART, 2006). Os resultados apontam que nem os parametros situacionais nem os elementos de responsabilizacao enunciativa sao suficientes para diferenciar generos textuais.
