The objective of this study was to know the composition of the phytosociological structure and economic uses of the vegetal resources of a remnant of ecotonal cerrado of the northern part of Piaui. The research was carried out in an ecotonal cerrado area located in the Mucambo Velho farm, Municipality of Buriti dos Lopes, PI. The Minimum Phytosociological Assessment Protocol (MPAP) was used in the vegetation sampling. The comparison of floristic similarity was performed with other surveys of ecotonal areas incorporated in the FLORACENE database. The phytosociological parameters of the plant community structure were obtained through the Mata Nativa program. Interviews with the community around the researched area were conducted to diagnose economic uses of plant resources and test the hypothesis of ecological appearance. The vegetation presented a structure similar to the other ecological tension areas of the northern part of Piaui. The diversity of Shannon (H ') 2.25 nats.ind-1 and the Pielou equability (J') were within the range recorded in the samplings compared. About the economic uses of vegetal resources, the category that stood out the most was logging. The hypothesis of the ecological appearance showed a positive relation between the use and some phytosociological parameters. Key words: Flora; Ecological tension; Ecological appearance. Objetivou-se conhecer a composicao da estrutura fitossociologica e usos economicos dos recursos vegetais de um remanescente de cerrado ecotonal da parte setentrional do Piaui. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida em uma area de cerrado ecotonal localizada na fazenda Mucambo Velho, Municipio de Buriti dos Lopes, PI. O Protocolo de Avaliacao Fitossociologica Minima (PAFM) foi utilizado na amostragem da vegetacao. A comparacao de similaridade floristica foi realizada com outros levantamentos de areas ecotonais, incorporados no banco de dados do FLORACENE. Os parametros fitossociologicos da estrutura da comunidade vegetal foram obtidos por meio do programa Mata nativa. Entrevistas com a comunidade do entorno da area pesquisada foram realizadas para diagnosticar os usos economicos dos recursos vegetais e testar a hipotese da aparencia ecologica. A vegetacao apresentou uma estrutura semelhante as outras areas de tensao ecologicas da parte setentrional do Piaui, sendo a diversidade de Shannon (H') 2,25 nats.ind-1 e a equabilidade de Pielou (J') 0,65.
