Summary: | Motion blur effect can be used to provide more dynamic and engaging viewing experiences. Studies have been conducted on generating realistic motion blur, but most methods use fixed scene velocity map and lack the ability to adapt to the viewing environment. In this paper, we propose a novel interactive framework that simulates different motion blur experiences based on the movement of the viewing device. We design an image codec where the decoder contains an algorithm that interprets the device velocity in conjunction with metadata sent from the encoder side to generate a dense velocity map that corresponds to the expected experiences associated with the device movement. The metadata that can be used in our framework include object mask, depth, and motion angle information. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our unified framework through simulating diverse motion blur experiences that are responsive to the device movements such as radial blur from different depth centers and background or foreground panning blur. |
