Summary: | Employee creativity is critically important for most organizations, yet little is known about what promotes this creativity. Greg Oldham and Anne Cummings of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign recently addressed questions concerning employee creativity. They surveyed 171 employees of 2 manufacturing facilities regarding their personality characteristics, job complexity, supervisory style and intentions to quit. They found that creativity is a function of both the person and the organization and that organizations can follow an individualized management strategy to enhance creative performance. |
